Saw Operator 1st Shift
Job Description
We are currently seeking a Saw Operator for a client located in Walhalla, SC. In this role, you will be responsible for set-up and operation of a machine that saws, cuts or notch’s metal or plastic material per job order specifications. Responsibilities

- Cuts material according to job order specifications and other work instructions
- Installs and replaces cutting tools/blades to ensure they are positioned correctly and properly aligned
- Loads material into machine and ensures workpieces/materials are aligned and secured to machine bed properly
- Selects proper tooling, measuring instruments, material, and equipment needed to ensure product conformance
- Monitors and adjusts machine controls (timing, feed rates, cutting speeds and depths)
- Measures completed workpieces to verify dimensions, lengths, and tolerances, etc. are within job order specs
- Examines completed workpieces for defects such as chipped edges or marred surfaces.
- Performs other related activities as assigned by the Department Group Leader
- Uses job-relevant knowledge to prepare final product or component parts for inspection.
- Performs job activities under supervision of Department Manager and Supervisor.
- Interacts and coordinates work with other machinists and production workers.
- Interaction with members of management during the programming, set-up, and machining process of the product may be necessary at times (Quality and Engineering).
- Knowledge of equipment, tools, and other mechanical devices that pertain to the above responsibilities.
- Skills include monitoring and controlling operations of equipment and machines. Determines sequence of operations, tools, and materials needed to correctly produce products that conform to job order specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and prints to determine job order specifications such as tolerances and special tooling instructions.
- Ability to read and interpret graduations or increments on dial indicators, micrometers (such as bore, depth, & groove) and calipers (digital or standard), comparator and other test equipment.
- Must complete and perform job tasks accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
- Six months minimum experience is preferred for this position.
- Training will be provided as necessary at initial job placement.
