Job Description
Phillips Staffing is looking for an energic, detailed oriented, and experienced individual for a Wastewater Operator role at a leading textile, chemical, and floor covering solutions manufacturer in Pendleton, SC! Job Summary:As a Wastewater Operator, your experience in biological wastewater treatment will be beneficial in managing our Wastewater Treatment Plant (65% of your time), Water Filter Plant (30%), and Air Compressors (5%), following a comprehensive training period before assuming full job responsibilities. Responsibilities:

- Utilize your D or C license (or above) to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot the Wastewater Treatment Plant and related equipment (pumps, mixers, clarifiers, tanks, etc.).
- Oversee the Filter Plant and its equipment (raw creek pump station, coagulators, settling tank, sand filters, clearwells).
- Oversee the air compressor area, ensuring optimal operation and troubleshooting as needed.
- Conduct and analyze wastewater sampling and testing (TSS, COD, Nitrogen, etc.) per permit and company procedures, and ship samples to appropriate labs.
- Perform rounds at the Wastewater Facility and Filter Plant, checking pH, DO, pump speed, flow rate, and overall condition.
- Maintain accurate records from rounds and daily operations.
- Ensure compliance with the Plant’s SC DES NPDES permit.
- Participate in fire and environmental emergency responses, including manning fire pumps and assisting with security watches and spill responses.
- Maintain overall housekeeping of the Utilities area.
- Biological Wastewater Operator License (D or C level and above).
- Previous mechanical maintenance experience.
- Experience with MS Word and MS Outlook.
- Basic understanding of pumps, pH, sampling techniques, chemical feed systems, and lab equipment.
- Excellent attendance and willingness to work holidays and weekends.
- Mobile Equipment License or willingness to train.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Moderate mechanical aptitude.
- Participation in plant safety processes.
- Valid South Carolina Driver’s License for on-site company vehicle use.
- Physical ability to perform tasks requiring exertion.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions.
- Basic Math skills (algebra, area/volume calculations, unit conversions, problem-solving).
- Efficiency, accuracy, and ability to work within time constraints while prioritizing and handling multiple responsibilities.
- Positive attitude and flexibility to learn new things and adapt to change.
- Good communication skills.
