Job Description

A leading manufacturer in the automotive industry is seeking a dependable and experienced Controls Technician for its facility in Westminster, SC. This role is responsible for designing advanced electrical, mechanical, and computer-controlled systems, improving manufacturing support and maintenance programs through training and technical support. This is a direct hire position with full benefits! 
Responsibilities:
  • Design control systems for machine tools, including electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic
  • Maintain the electrical and program documentation.
  • Install and update software and hardware required for troubleshooting machine logic programs
  • Assists and trains maintenance personnel in the troubleshooting of production equipment and the repair of electronic control equipment.
  • Selects capital equipment for manufacturing processes.
  • Improve current machine tools to increase uptime, improve quality and increase productivity.
  • Provides engineering support to production equipment and processes, including advising maintenance. 
  • Establishes programs for cost savings activities to support overall plant requirements.
  • Advises in improving preventative maintenance programs.
  • Authorizes/approves changes to machine tool programs.
  • Maintain and follow Quality Management System and Environmental Management System
Requirements:
  • Associates degree in technical field preferred or 5 years work experience with controls
  • Knowledge of programming and designing controls systems utilizing PC’s, PLCs, electrical and pneumatic components
  • Experience in writing and debugging code for SLC 500, ControlLogix, or Omron
  • Experience with CNC or NC controls
  • HMI program development experience
  • Experience in hardware/panel design, motor sizing, component selection, drive system selection and programming, robotics and motion control.
  • Experience with automation network interfaces for data and control (Ethernet, DeviceNet, Profibus/Profinet)
  • Experience in machine vision setup and programming preferred
  • Working knowledge of NEC code 
  • AutoCAD experience preferred
  • Results oriented personality and ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience in continuous improvement activities will be considered a plus.  This includes using tools such as kaizens, mistake proofing, establishing standard work practices, problem solving, pull systems, 5S, setup reduction, TPM, etc.
 Pay Rate: $ 26-35/Hour, Based on Experience
