CNC Machine Operator 1st Shift
Job Description
We are currently seeking CNC Machine Operators for a client located in Spartanburg, SC.In this role you will be responsible for setting up and operating precision grinding equipment to produce high-quality components in accordance with engineering specifications. This is a direct hire opportunity and requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently while supporting team goals.Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC cylindrical grinding machines (e.g., Doosan, Okuma) using Fanuc or OSP controls.
- Read and interpret blueprints, stage drawings, and job orders to determine machining requirements.
- Load and unload workpieces using hoists and other handling equipment.
- Monitor machine operations and make adjustments to maintain product quality.
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, ring gauges, and gauge blocks.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), risk assessment methods (RAMs), and health & safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with safety and quality standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of experience operating CNC grinding machines.
- Proficiency with Fanuc or OSP control systems.
- Familiarity with tooling and equipment used in CNC machining.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and job documentation.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles preferred.
- Stand, walk, and move throughout the workshop for extended periods (8–10 hour shifts).
- Lift and carry parts and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Perform tasks requiring hand and arm dexterity, including handling inspection tools and components.
- Occasionally balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Use vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Work night shifts as scheduled.
- Work overtime if business needs dictate, which may include weekend working.
