Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and organized individuals that can multi-task and follow directions. The candidate should be able to work productively in a medium-to-fast paced environment. The Metal Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, positioning, aligning, and fitting parts of structural metal products in compliance for the manufacturing of specific signage products requested by customers. The Fabricators will use specialized equipment to weld and assemble new metal parts based on blueprint specificationsResponsibilities:
- Study work order sheets, engineering drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements and task sequences.
- Set up, maintain, and operate fabricating machinery, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders and drill presses to bend, cut, form, punch, drill or otherwise form and assemble metal components.
- Lay out and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met.
- Move parts into necessary position, manually or with hoists or cranes.
- Verify conformance of work pieces to work order specifications, using squares, rulers and measuring tapes.
- Utilize hand and power tools such as jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars and hammers to align and fit parts according to specifications.
- Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications by utilizing jigs, welding torches and hand tools.
- Tack weld fitted parts together as needed for formatting.
- Modify parts and/or remove high spots and cut bevels, using hand files, portable grinders and cutting torches.
- Lift or move materials and finished products to their corresponding areas using large cranes.
- At least 2 (two) year of experience working in fabrication/welding.
- Signage manufacturing industry knowledge is preferred.
- Familiarity with welding tools, procedures, and engineering blueprints.
